If it only works because you're holding it together, it isn't built yet

Every growing company has a few people who are quietly load-bearing. Take them out for a week and things wobble. That's not a compliment to those people. It's a design flaw.

An operation should be a system, not a heroic effort. When work only moves because someone is chasing it, when a handoff only happens because a specific person remembers, when quality only holds because one person double-checks everything, you don't have a process. You have a person standing in for a process.

The fix is rarely more effort. It's finding the exact place where good intentions turn into unclear ownership, and building the small piece of structure that keeps it clear without anyone standing over it. Do that enough times and the business stops depending on any single person in the room, including you.
